One of our favorite things about being based in the Bay Area is the community of supportive women we find ourselves surrounded by. A few weeks ago we got the opportunity to not only break bread with Brightside Collective (an East Bay women’s collective) andErin Fong of The Friendship Project but to help design the tablespaces inspired by her gorgeous prints.
With her best friend, art director Danielle Moore, Bigley launched Bright Side in February 2018 with a networking event at Oakland's Lola Creative Agency. They invited all their Instagram followers and, to their surprise, 150 women showed up. Four events later, Bigley appears to have fulfilled that "burning desire to cultivate a diverse, purposeful, and accessible group."
"In the East Bay, new ventures like the Bright Side Collective, an emerging organization for creative East Bay women, and Qulture Collective, an Oakland initiative self-described as “a multi-use space and queer community platform,” apply finer and finer lenses to the Bay Area population, creating smaller and more specific hubs of contact and cross-pollination, where feeling accepted and comfortable is key."
